As Enchanted Village’s resident Wishcrafter, Darcy Merriweather has the power to make other people’s wishes come true, but what she really wishes is that she had the power to uncloak the invisible man who’s stalking her best friend….

I love cozy mysteries and The Goodbye Witch was a great jump back into the genre.  It’s a solid mystery that adds depth to Starla’s backstory and brings the regular cast of characters to the forefront. It also nicely solved the issue of Darcy snooping into cases and bumping heads with Nick in his role as sheriff.

The best part of this book was the focus on relationships between the characters we already know.  I loved the progression of Darcy and Nick’s relationship and look forward to their new dynamic now that the work issues have been resolved.  I enjoyed the focus on her deepening bond with Mimi and her friendships with Starla and Mrs. P. Even the antagonistic relationship between Darcy and Glinda moved out of the holding pattern it’s been in for the last couple of books.

A good series not only builds on what came before but also sets up what comes next and this book did a great job of that.  I’m excited to see what’s next for Mrs. P, I’m curious about Missy’s next move, and the identity of the Elder seems closer to a reveal.  Mostly, I’m just looking forward to spending more time with this group of characters who are quirky and charming and fun.
